The director has turned an everyday wardrobe into a “springboard of the imagination” in this creation. The subject is identity, the double and thus the binary that is still so firmly rooted in our society, and models that allow us to go beyond it. The wardrobe is also the place of “clothes that inhabit us”. Protection and adornment, transformation and revelation… to yourself and to others.
“When you come into the world, everything is there to be discovered. How can you define yourself without ending up in a tiny drawer? And what do you do when your own reflection decides to interfere?” Without words, POp! dodges argument and polemic to involve the imagination alongside a kind of sexless doll that emerges from a wardrobe and finds that it is alive. Entrusted to Caroline Cornélis, the movement is side by side with the rhythms, objects and space in a whole consisting both of crucial questions and of playful illusions.
