Pierre Droulers trained at Mudra, Maurice Béjart’s school, as well as with Jerzy Grotowski and Bob Wilson. Firmly rooted where the disciplines of dance, words and music meet, from the outset his work has also been enriched by questions centred on theatricality and visual art.
For many years, fascinated by archives and how they are used, Pierre Droulers has been keen to continuously update what is current in an artist’s career. He is now envisaging
his latest creation as a continuation of this hybridisation, with a reflection on the trace as a key element. Occupation presents the film Be a poem, which features an interplay between archives. Performances will
emerge from this poem like embodiments of connections: appearances, disappearances, transmissions come to fill time, delve into memory, foresee futures. It presents an opportunity to “remember that we belong to the plastic domain as well as to the choreographic domain” by removing any linear chronology. In short, it is a way of “summoning the never seen from what has already been seen”.
